The desire to serve and help others is strong at Carroll. It’s part of the Pioneer tradition, from Pios Serve: First Year Experience to Alumni Volunteer Day. Getting involved, connecting to the broader community and seeing the impact of your contributions—these are valuable learning experiences that shape you as a person.
Make Time to Make a Difference
It starts with becoming the change you want to see. Giving back is not only a great way to learn more about yourself—you’ll interact with people from different backgrounds and discover the power that comes from working together. And you may find opportunities that complement your field of study and help prepare you for your career.

TAKE A MEANINGFUL JOURNEY
Combine travel and service on a winter or spring Alternative Break. Whether in the U.S. or abroad, the focus is on positive change and personal growth through community service. Find out how you can expand your impact on issues such as hunger, education, housing access, youth development, health care and more.

CHANGE A LIFE
Share your experience and insights through mentorship in Carroll's Pre-College Programs, and enrichment activities and programs, with youth not yet in college. Help us instill a sense of discovery and the inspiration to believe anything is possible.
OTHER WAYS TO BE INVOLVED
There are many ways to give back to the community. Here are a few more.

LIVING LOCAL
Connect with your community. Join groups of Carroll students who volunteer a few hours of their time helping area organizations and afterwards enjoy exploring local businesses and restaurants together.

VOTING AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT
Vote! Want change? Make it happen. Every vote counts and we encourage our students to participate in the election process. Find out about dates, polling locations and voter eligibility for local and national elections.

COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT
Prosper with purpose. In addition to on-campus employment, you can be placed in off-campus locations such as hospitals, nonprofit organizations, etc. Community-based campus employment provides professional development and networking in your field of study and helps you build stronger ties to the greater Waukesha and Milwaukee area.
Annual Volunteering Events
Our students log more than 14,000 volunteer hours annually, beginning with Pios Serve: First Year Experience during Welcome Week, when the entire incoming class joins together in giving back. It’s an opportunity to make a significant impact on our community and the people who live here.
To celebrate our University Ethos and university year-long theme of stewardship, we encourage all Pioneers to give back in their own communities throughout November 2020.
