Wisconsin Voter Registration Form

We HIGHLY encourage students who will be registering to vote at the polls on Election Day to fill out the WI Voter Registration Form digitally and print to bring to the polls. This will make the process of registering to vote on Election Day smoother for students and poll workers.

Wisconsin residents can also find their polling location, request an absentee ballot, and more through this site by entering their name and birthdate.
The deadline to register online or by mail will be available closer to the upcoming elections. You may also bring a completed registration form to your polling place on Election Day if you haven’t registered beforehand.

Absentee Voting
All voters in Wisconsin can request an absentee ballot be mailed to them for any reason. Voters must be registered before they can request an absentee ballot. Voters may request their absentee ballot in writing. Voters must provide a photo ID with their absentee ballot request.

Students can register to vote AND vote early by bringing the necessary items for proof of residency and proof of identification as outlined under "What do I Need on Election Day".

What Do I Need On Election Day?

In-State Students:

• To Vote Bring: WI ID/Drivers License, Tribal ID, or any of these
• To Register to Vote in Waukesha: To vote local by registering with your school address not on your WI ID/Driver's License:
  • Carroll ID
  • Proof of Residence* if you live off-campus (The Waukesha City Clerk has a Certified Housing List for on-campus students that will be at both polling locations)

Out-of-State Students:
You can register/vote here in Wisconsin as long as you haven't already voted absentee for the current election in your home state

• To Vote Bring: US Passport, Carroll-issued voter ID**, or any of these if you have them
• To Register:
  • Carroll-issued voter ID**
  • Know the last 4 of social security #
  • Proof of Residence* if you live off-campus (Clerk has Certified Housing List for on-campus students)

*Proof of Enrollment can be requested from the Registrar’s Office by emailing reg@carrollu.edu. Proof of Enrollment is only needed if your Carroll Voter ID card is expired. You can still use the expired Carroll Voter ID if accompanied by an Enrollment Verification letter.
**WI Voting-Compliant ID can be obtained from the Pioneer Card office located at the Campus Center Information Desk. Bring your Pioneer Card with you. Visit the Pioneer Card Office for more information

Voter Eligibility & Voter ID Card

Voter Eligibility
You are eligible to vote in the state of Wisconsin if you meet ALL of the following criteria:

• Must be a United States citizen
• Will be 18 years of age on or before the Election date
• Have been a resident of Wisconsin for at least 28 consecutive days before election day*

*Students from out of state but live in the residence halls or other off campus housing can vote in the state of Wisconsin as long as they can provide proof of residency/enrollment verification*

Voter ID
Voters will be required to show an acceptable form of photo ID. Acceptable forms of ID include:

• WI Driver License or State ID Card
• US Passport
• Armed Forces ID Card
• Indian Tribal ID Card
• Certificate of Naturalization
• WI Driver License or State ID Card Receipts
• Carroll University Voter ID Card (this card can be used for proof of enrollment and Photo ID)
  • Carroll Voter ID Cards can be used if expired but require proof of enrollment to be shown with it.
  • Carroll Voter ID Cards are FREE for students at the Carroll University Information Desk in the Campus Center

Every state except North Dakota requires citizens to register if they want to vote. States that require registration also have deadlines for when you need to register by.
