Carroll has been approved to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements. Membership in NC-SARA facilitates our institutional compliance with regulations on (a) distance education, (b) out-of-state learning placements, and (c) licensure disclosures.

The following Carroll degree programs are affiliated with specific professional licensure/certification that may or may not meet requirements in a state for that occupation. If you are planning to apply for licensure in a state other than where the program is offered, please contact that state's appropriate licensing board to determine whether the Carroll University program meets licensure/certification requirements in that state. Health Sciences with an emphasis in Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Currently, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, and Oregon are the only states with approved legislation mandating the licensure of sonographers. Licensure is not required in Wisconsin. None of the U.S. Territories (Puerto Rico (PR), American Samoa (AS), Guam (GU), Northern Mariana Islands (MP), and the US Virgin Islands (VI)) have regulatory boards overseeing the licensure of Sonography. Upon successful graduation from the Carroll University PA program, students have met the competencies required to sit for the national board exam administered through the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Students who have successfully passed their national board exam, the Physician Assistant National Certification Exam (PANCE), are eligible to apply for state licensure.

Master of Science in Pathologists' Assistant Studies

This program is in the process of becoming accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Labratory Sciences (NAACLS) and will satisfy all licensure requirements upon achieving full accreditation. Carroll University has been awarded "Serious Applicant" status in the accreditation process, and students are permitted to sit for the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Certification Exam, which is required for employment and is taken through the ASCP following completion of the PathA program. Nevada* and New York** are the only states with approved legislation mandating the licensure of Pathologists' Assistants. Licensure is not required in Wisconsin. *Nevada requires the student graduate from an accredited NAACLS pathologists' assistants program to apply for certification in the state.

Master of Education in Literacy

The Master of Education in Literacy program allows educators to choose what programs will best serve their professional learning needs. Students can pursue a Reading Teacher License and/or the Dyslexia Interventionalist Certification or earn their M.Ed. in Literacy by combining the Reading Teacher License with the Reading Specialist License.

Master of Science in Behavioral Health Psychology

The Carroll University Master of Science in Behavioral Health Psychology degree is officially recognized as an approved training program for the preparation of Licensed Professional Counselors (PLC) by the state of Wisconsin.

Once you complete the Master of Science in Behavioral Health Psychology program, you are eligible for the Licensed Professional Counselor-in Training (LPC-IT) credential. You then engage in 3,000 hours of post-master’s supervised practice and take the National Counselor Exam (NCE) through the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) to be eligible for your LPC licensure.
