her career working at both the Carroll University Library as well as the Waukesha
Public Library.

Gert Ullsperger came to Carroll in 1964 and has spent 57 years working with faculty,
staff, and students as an employee of the university's food service. She has become
a beloved member of our community and loves her role as Carroll's "grandma." She shares
the story of her time at Carroll in this special edition of CU in the Workplace as
her university family prepares to celebrate her 95th birthday.

’79, along with his wife Agnes, relocated to Florida and purchased a 47’ catamaran
sailboat to open their own charter sailing company, Smoke & Roses.

After a youth choir performance in Shattuck as an eighth grader, Sarah Jensen ’14,
M.Ed. ’18, knew she was destined to attend Carroll University to pursue her life-long
plan of becoming an educator. Sarah earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degrees
in education from Carroll.

With a multi-generation family legacy paving her path to study at Carroll, Ann Laatsch
’88, is able to use her background in advocacy and law to inform her current work
as the Justice System Coordinator for the National Clearinghouse for Abuse in Later
Life (NCALL), a project of End Domestic Abuse Wisconsin.

Since opening his own gym, RS Fitness, in 2018, Robert Schmitz ’10 has drawn on his
career in personal training and experience as a college athlete to help people achieve
their fitness goals. With clients at home and a new business to manage during quarantine,
Robert shares how he’s approaching virtual training and staying connected with his
clients online.
