Fraternity and Sorority Life

The Greek community at Carroll University has a rich history of fostering growth for its members, the university and our surrounding community. Greek organizations are founded on the ideals of scholarship, leadership, friendship and community service.

The best way to find out about Carroll's two fraternities and four sororities is to attend recruitment events and meet current members. You can also express interest to a particular chapter by contacting the recruitment chair.

ALPHA GAMMA DELTA (ΑΓΔ)

Alpha Gamma Delta is an international fraternity for women that exists to provide opportunities for personal development through the spirit of sisterhood.

ALPHA XI DELTA (ΑΞΔ)

Alpha Xi Delta will: nurture unity and cooperation; foster intellectual, professional and personal growth; exemplify the highest ethical conduct; instill community responsibility; perpetuate fraternal growth.

CHI OMEGA (ΧΩ)

Chi Omega is an intergenerational women’s organization forever committed to our founding purposes: friendship, personal integrity, service to others, academic excellence in intellectual pursuits, community and campus involvement and personal and career development.

GAMMA ALPHA OMEGA (ΓΑΩ)

Gamma Alpha Omega is a Latina-founded, multicultural organization that exists to: increase the number of women with college educations and advanced degrees; provide mentors for youth, women and underrepresented communities; support individual leaders in each member; and provide lifelong support for sisters, rooted in the pillars of Honesty, Integrity, Leadership, Scholarship and Unity.

DELTA RHO UPSILON (ΔΡΥ)

Delta Rho Upsilon is a social fraternity committed to building strong bonds of brotherhood and friendships that transcend a few years of college.

SIGMA TAU GAMMA (ΣΤΓ)

Sigma Tau Gamma is new to Carroll in 2017. It's mission is to be a fraternity of courageous and noble gentlemen who always endeavor forward.

OMEGA DELTA PHI

Omega Delta Phi stands as Carroll University’s first and only multicultural fraternity, dedicated to fostering unity, honesty, integrity, and leadership. As a service-social fraternity we work to fulfill our goals of serving our diverse communities while graduating our brothers.

IMPROVED GRADES

Numerous national studies show that students who are active in a fraternity or sorority generally have higher grade point averages than the general student body. Greek organization members also graduate at a higher rate.

WRIGHT HOUSE THE CENTER FOR GREEK LIFE ON CAMPUSWright House, 119 Wright St., is designated as the fraternity and sorority house and provides office space for Greek Life staff, conference rooms and chapter suites. There is a full kitchen and lounge area. The Greek community uses Wright House for recruitment events, mixers, meetings, and for hanging out or studying.

Integrated Knowledge

The Greek community at Carroll University strongly supports Carroll’s extensive foundation as a liberal arts university. Academics are a large portion of the average college student’s life and the Greek community at Carroll is committed to developing further success in academic achievement. Carroll’s Greek community has a wide variety of students who are studying in a wide array of majors and fields of studies, who are committed to further academic success.

Life Long Skills

Carroll’s Greek community is dedicated to providing its members with the opportunity to develop useful life long skills that will undoubtedly help them after they graduate and move on from Carroll. Being a part of Carroll’s Greek community gives one the opportunity to learn how to plan events, how to stay organized, and how to work with others effectively and efficiently. Carroll’s Greek community frequently hosts and sponsors events relating to professional development.

Just as Carroll University has certain values it expects its students to uphold, each Greek organization also has certain values and creed that they strive to uphold. These include a dedication to academic achievement, leadership development and the creation of brotherhood or sisterhood.

Gateway Experiences

Not only does Carroll University strive to prepare students for life after college, but Carroll’s Greek community does as well. Carroll’s Greek community provides the opportunity for extensive networking with a very strong and large group of successful alumni. Carroll’s Greek community also offers opportunity for leadership development and this helps create well-rounded individuals.

DUES

Each chapter collects dues to pay for various activities and events of the chapter. Dues are set by the individual chapters and can fluctuate depending on number of members, economic conditions, etc. Dues are used towards paying for social events, recruiting activities, leadership development programs, scholarships and much more. Chapters also have payment plan options to assist members.

HAZING POLICY

University policy, state law and individual fraternity and sorority policies prohibit hazing. If a student believes that he or she is being hazed, he or she should report it immediately to the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, chapter advisor, university official or a police officer. All reports of hazing are handled in a serious and timely manner.
